Frequently asked Questions
Need help with something? Here are our most frequently asked questions. Please be patient. More are being added. If you have a question that isn't answered here, please message us and we will include it.
The first thing you need to do is fill out the FBI information form here.
Unfortunately, there's just no way to know. This could be a very long process for some. For others, the identification has been made as early as mid-October.
Dr. Randy Keller, Fremont County Coroner, has been in charge of the identification of the 190 bodies. Many were able to be identified using fingerprints, scars, marks, tattoos, dental records, and even clothing.
As of the press conference on 11/08/2023, which is the last public update, 110 bodies had been positively identified, leaving 80 not yet identified. Of those identified, 25 had been released to their families for proper disposition. All told, the FBI reported they had been in contact with 137 families. Some of these were for notification. Others were to get more information to help in the identification process.
If your loved one has been positively identified as a victim of RtN, there is some assistance available. Please see what we have said about Victim Compensation.
If you are still waiting for identification, unfortunately, the 11th DA VC board has determined that they are unable to offer you any assistance.
However, our site isn't the 11th or the FBI. Whatever the help you need to get through all of this, reach out ad we will do our best to plug you into the resources you need.
In addition to the financial assistance through the VC, a few agencies have stepped forward to provide mental health services at cost. We are working diligently to find other mental health support systems that will be free or reduced charge so that everyone may receive the help they need, regardless of ability to pay.
